Top 5 builders in Liverpool who bring dream homes to life

  • Customer Review: We dug into Google Reviews, TrustPilot, and even Facebook recommendations to find builders with consistently high ratings. We also paid close attention to detailed feedback about reliability, communication, and quality of work.
  • Portfolio: A solid track speaks volumes. We reviewed each builder’s project galleries and social media to ensure they could handle everything from small repairs to major renovations with craftsmanship that matched their standards.
  • Local Reputation: We also looked into each builder’s local forums, community, and neighbourhood apps, such as Nextdoor, to see who locals actually recommend (and who they warn you to avoid).
  • Transparency and Communication: We looked for builders who are upfront and easy to deal with. That means checking reviews for mentions of clear quoting and timely updates.
  • Range of Services: We reviewed each builder’s website, service listings, and recent project posts on social media to see the variety of work they actually take on. With that, we gave preference to those who cover more than one niche for a single project.
  • Accreditation and Insurance: We verified each builder’s membership with trusted bodies, such as the Federation of Master Builders or TrustMark. We also ensured they hold proper public liability insurance.

Finding a good builder can feel like a minefield. One minute you’re chasing quotes, the next you’re hearing horror stories from mates about half-finished kitchens or projects that ran months behind schedule.

That’s exactly why we’ve put this list together. We’ve rounded up some of the most trusted builders in Liverpool—teams with solid reputations, proven work, and the kind of professionalism that puts your mind at ease.

No fluff, no filler, just builders who get the job done right. So, let’s get your plans off paper and into bricks and mortar!

How much do builders usually charge in Liverpool?

Builders in Liverpool usually charge £150 per day for basic labour. However, full project costs vary widely, ranging from £1,000 for small jobs to £30,000 for full home extensions, depending on the project’s size and complexity.

Armle Construction is a Liverpool-based builder with an office on Rodney Street, and they’ve earned a strong reputation for home renovations done right.

Their services cover full-scale refurbishments, bathroom installations, everyday property improvements, and general building work. These are perfect for homeowners looking to modernise or completely rework a space.

One thing that makes them stand out is accessibility. They’re open seven days a week, with working hours that stretch well into the evening. This is ideal if you’re managing a project alongside a full-time job.

Many clients also highlighted how tidy and respectful the team is on-site, often cleaning up at the end of each day (a relief during messy home recos). Additionally, their attention to detail, particularly in areas such as bathrooms and fitted interiors, is often noted.

Just note that they don’t post pricing or packages online. So, all quotes go through direct contact. And due to their popularity, availability may be limited.

Pros

  • Open seven days
  • Tidy and professional team
  • Detail-focused finishes

Cons

  • No pricing online
  • Longer wait times

Excellent workmanship, professional, and very quick

“Carl and his team came to fit three external doors.   Wow what a team.  Carl gave me advice on the doors when he first came to measure up and came with his team to fit them a couple of weeks later.  Excellent workmanship, professional, very quick, cleaned up (you wouldn’t have known I’d had workmen in), took all the rubbish away with them and the doors look stunning and given I was having three external doors fitted the noise was minimal.  Quality of work is first class.  Very friendly and ran through everything before he left.  I would certainly use again and would be more than happy to recommend to family and friends.  You’re in safe hands with Homefix Merseyside, you can be confident to leave you job n their hands.  Thank you Carl and Team. Positive: Responsiveness, Punctuality, Quality, Professionalism, Value Services: Exterior design services”

Meticulous with their work

“We recently got our Kitchen fitted by ARMLE and I cannot sing their praises enough. Carl and his team were fantastic, great guys, meticulous with their work and went above and beyond what was expected from them, coming up with creative workarounds for a few obstacles that they came across (due to our house). Throughout the entire process ARMLE were great and understanding of a personal situation we had going on, working with and around us to make us feel as comfortable as possible, which they absolutely did. The finished kitchen is fantastic, me and my partner are made up we went with these guys and if you’re thinking of going with them….. Please do, as we will be returning for any future home improvements. Whether they do it or not they’ll be the first people I ask!! Thanks for everything!”

2. Integration Builders

Operating Hours:

Integration Builders is based in Halewood and offers one of the most complete service ranges we’ve seen from any local builder.

They cover everything from structural alterations and loft conversions to plumbing, plastering, joinery, and even conservatory builds—all in one service.

It’s a true one-stop shop, with the added bonus of project management included for those who want hands-off oversight. They also score consistently well in reviews across multiple platforms.

Plus, clients mentioned strong communication, clever problem-solving on complex builds, and smooth delivery from start to finish. So, if you’re tackling a bigger project with lots of moving parts, they’re a safe and experienced option.

However, their Halewood location isn’t ideal if you’re deep in the city centre, since the traffic in the area is more of an inconvenience on a logistical note. Their portfolio is also somewhat limited, so you’ll need to request examples directly.

Pros

  • Wide-ranging full-service
  • Strong client communication
  • Offers project management
  • Open daily (and evenings too)

Cons

  • Traffic-prone location
  • Limited project photos online

Professional, polite, and extremely conscientious

“Had several builders to give me quotes and although Mark’s was comparable he seemed to know exactly what I wanted and could start straightaway. They arrived promptly on the first day and got stuck in. A few complications were encountered along the way but Mark dealt with them professionally. Throughout the whole job they worked virtually none stop, many a cold cup of coffee discarded as they didn’t even stop to drink them – no long lunch breaks either! At each stage Mark would suggest various options for the ideas I had and made sure I was happy with what he was doing; plus he was happy to accept the changes I made during the job and this did not alter costings. Mark and his subcontractors were professional, polite and extremely conscientious – it just made for the whole job to flow smoothly and efficiently. At the end of each day they would clean up and tidy their tools away. I have had several properties over the years meeting many builders, some good, some not so good. I have to say that HomeFix are the best builders I have ever dealt with; Mark is a very friendly guy and genuinely wants to ensure that you are happy with his team and their work. I am thrilled with the work they did for me; a job that had been just an idea of mine but now looks fab – thanks Mark! I would not hesitate in recommending HomeFix 100%!”

Competitively priced

“I had a flood in my house which caused much distress. I required a builder who could investigate damp patches and advise me about the treatment. I researched builders in my area and having read the splendid reviews I had no doubt that i would be in safe hands with Integrated Builders . Mark came out promptly and inspected all the damage caused by the flood. He was very professional and reassuring so him and his team started the work 2 days later. Firstly a damp proof course was carried out followed by quality plastering and joinery work. Mark and his team finished in a timely fashion. The job was competitively priced. I would strongly recommend  this company.”

Mersey Developments specialises in large-scale residential work, like full home extensions, loft conversions, and bespoke structural builds.

They also offer planning and consultation support, which is helpful if you’re starting with a rough idea and need it shaped into a workable plan.

What’s more, clients appreciate their transparent quoting process. Their pricing is reportedly fair and accurate for most standard jobs. This includes single-storey extensions, falling within the £25,000-£45,000 range, depending on the scope and materials.

Aside from that, they have a strong understanding of local building regulations, particularly in West Derby and the surrounding areas.

But one thing to note is that Mersey Developments seems to focus exclusively on major projects. If you’re looking for quick fixes, this probably isn’t the team for you. They’re clearly geared towards full-scale transformations.

Pros

  • Transparent and accurate pricing
  • Excellent for big builds
  • Offers full consultation

Cons

  • Not suitable for quick fixes

Great attention to detail and practical ideas

“Choosing a builder to complete work on your home is a big deal … It’s your home… But after seeing the work Jay and his team completed on my parents bungalow dorma extension a few years ago it was a no brainer to go to Mersey Developments. The care and professional approach they take when working on your home is second to none. We wanted someone we could trust to work with us for a complex garden room needing to make sure we utilized a very awkward shaped area so that we didn’t lose any valuable garden space. Our budget was tight and Jay worked really hard with us so we could maximize the space we had and made sure we didn’t have to compromise on quality. The teams attention to detail and practical ideas has resulted in the end product far surpassing our dreams and expectations, and is something that looks amazing at the bottom of our garden. We now look forward to using this room all year round and for many many years to come.  The team are considerate whilst on the property and made sure that each day the build site was left tidy and safe incase we needed to be in the garden with the kids. I had no hesitation about leaving them to get on with the job whilst I got on with my day to day routine. Thank you again!”

Trustworthy, hardworking, and on time

“I genuinely feel like I’ve been on the Big Build and woken up in a different house. Jay and the lads completed a loft conversion back in April and then returned in July to complete our kitchen extension. Each and everyone of the tradesman Jay employs are brilliant. They are trustworthy, hard working and on time. Their work is finished to the highest standard. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with each and everyone of them and just like the Big Build whereby the family give a speech at the end, I can only say the work they have done has been life changing. From a house that we were busting out of and struggling to cope in, we now have space to live comfortably again. Thanks so much, Nadine. UPDATE 12/07/20: Three years later we contacted Jay regarding a leak in the roof. Jay was onto the problem immediately and has dealt with the problem. If anyone needs reassurance that problems you may incur several years later will be sorted then problem solved. Very few builders would undertake work like this and I’m so grateful that Jay did as the leak has now stopped. Thankyou so much for fixing the roof. It was actually a pleasure to see some of your lads again (lemon drizzle cake for the workers served!) Best of luck for the future! – Nadine”

What we like most about Beechpark Joinery & Building is their clear dedication to craftsmanship, from beautifully fitted kitchen units to custom staircases and fine carpentry finishes.

They’ve built their name by focusing on the finer side of residential construction, where detail and material choice matter just as much as structural soundness.

They also take on general interior building and structural fit-outs, making them ideal for clients doing full refurbishments who still want one team handling both the framework and the finish.

Their team regularly works on older properties, modernising layouts while preserving character too. Reviews are also overwhelmingly positive, often passed along by word of mouth from past clients who appreciated their professionalism and clean progress.

However, this isn’t the team for projects needing heavy structural work or external construction. Their strengths lie in detail-oriented, internal projects; not large-scale builds like foundations, roofing, or external extensions that often require heavy machinery.

Pros

  • Precise carpentry and finishes
  • Handles full interior refurbishments
  • Trusted for older homes

Cons

  • No exterior construction
  • Not for structurally heavy builds

Competitive and fair quotes

“Ben was recommended to us by some friends whose kitchen he completed. The scale of our project was quite large and Ben offered competitive and fair quotes to complete the work; drafting in support from trusted trades. Ben completed a full garage conversion for us with vaulted ceiling and sky lights, kitchen installation (of which he also helped with supply), full rewire, re-plumb, fitting 2 bathrooms and a full re plaster. He drafted in trusted contacts to supply and fit bifold doors, complete the plumbing and electrical work and carry out all the flooring finishes and was great at overseeing all the work. He worked closely with the building regs inspector to ensure everything met requirements. He made good recommendations along the way such as exposing 2 hidden fire places and moving a loft hatch. Really trustworthy guy to have around the house and has kept in touch since. Have already recommended him to several people considering work and will be having him back to complete some external work (facias/guttering) in a few months. Before and after pictures included.”

Wouldn’t go anywhere else in future projects

After a lot of  searching for a reliable company to remodel my kitchen I chose to go with Beechpark joinery which I’m  over the moon I did. Ben is a professional. a good honest lad he was upfront about everything & listened to what I wanted. A side from that he’s a lovely person to deal with and reply’s to you within a few hours of texting and has cracking personality. The quality of his work is outstanding (I’m very fussy) the team of workmen he brought were brilliant all very clean & take high pride in their work. Especially plumper Tom & Floor Tom. I’ve had no issues with anything. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in future projects. I have my perfect kitchen!

5. Marshall Builders

Marshall Builders is a specialist brickwork and masonry team based on Rodney Street. Their focus is tightly and highly skilled: repointing, heritage restoration, structural stonework, and bricklaying repairs, particularly for Victorian and Georgian properties.

We like their precise, sympathetic restorations that maintain the character of older homes. Their style of work reflects the city’s traditional brick aesthetic. Local homeowners, in particular, appreciate their familiarity with Liverpool’s common brick types and layout styles.

One lesser-known aspect is that they often work alongside conservation officers and heritage consultants, especially on listed buildings. Therefore, they understand the paperwork, regulations, and technical details that come with protected properties.

But it’s important to note that this is a niche service, not a general building firm. So, you won’t find full builds or interior renovation on their list. They’re also weekday-only, so you’ll need to schedule around that.

Pros

  • Skilled in heritage repairs
  • Trusted brickwork quality
  • Works on listed buildings
  • City-centre location

Cons

  • No interior services
  • Closed on weekends

Highly recommended

“We have recently purchased a Victorian property built in 1892 which needed some serious TLC. Danny has been absolutely brilliant! We had the front and gable end chemically cleaned, stone work stripped of old paint and brought back to the original sandstone, 2 chimney stacks re built and pointed, the 2 sides of the house re pointed, brick replacement of weathered bricks, brick repairs and sealant applied to the gable end which gets battered by the weather. We weren’t living in the property but Danny regularly kept in contact and sent picture updates. Honestly, we highly recommend Danny and his team. Danny is such a lovely guy and so professional. We cannot wait to have the back of the house brought to life in the future.”

Respectful and pleasant to have on-site

“Marshall Builders did a fantastic job on the stone feature at the front of our house, adding the curb side appeal we wanted when we designed the house. It took us so long to find a stone mason and had been let down by one. But having Danny do the work made up for it. It was honestly a pleasure to have him do the work. He turned up when he said he work, create the look we were after, tidied up after himself, communicated clearly throughout the work and his team were all respectful and pleasant to have on site. He also helped us source the welsh slate for our project. I’d highly recommend Danny and would use him again in an instant.”
